European Union Expansion!
Only ONE Day left until the European Union's biggest expansion in terms of scope and diversity. Thirteen countries have applied to become new members. Ten of these countries - Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia will join on May 1st, 2004. Are you ready?

For over twenty years, Ms. Williams held senior positions, including chief of staff of committees in the US Senate and House of Representatives, and served as a Foreign Service Officer responsible for political issues in several regions of the world. Since 1997, Ms. Williams also represented the US government as a member of the Organization of Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on long-term assignments in the Balkans, working with former Communist countries' governments, NGOs, privately held companies, fledgling political parties and independent media groups.
As the event speaker, Ms Williams will cover the major arguments of EU expansion, such as:
· The benefits of expansion of the EU
· The conditions for success
· The economic analyses
· The cost of non-expansion
· The state of public opinion
· Implications of EU expansion on American business, etc.

February 12 - “International Protocol for Women in International Trade” With Guest Speaker, ANN BEARD We are pleased to have Ann Beard, a distinguished expert in diplomatic protocol as our guest speaker. Ann is founder and CEO of Diplomacy and International Protocol, a consulting firm that advises governments, diplomats, universities, and corporations on international relations and cooperation. She is officially recognized by the U.S. Department of State, is Chancellor on the national Board of the Consular Corps College, and was Chief of Protocol of the City of San Diego for 8 years where she welcomed over 3000 diplomats and dignitaries to San Diego. This is a short list of her achievements. We all know that diplomacy and protocol can be the key to success in creating lasting international relationships. In today’s business climate, being cognitive of another’s culture and values is imperative. Ann will use anecdotes, give us some rules to follow, tools to us raise our EQ and achieve our business relationship goals. Our guest speaker is Anne Hoiberg, Director of the Women's Equity Council of the United Nations Association of San Diego and President of the International Museum of Human Rights at San Diego. She will speak on timely issues discussed on her recent trip to the U.N. in New York City.

(Voted Best Middle Eastern restaurant -by San Diego Magazine) We will enjoy a buffet with various eastern delicacies, be surrounded by beautiful artwork from the owner, Ibraham Al-Nashashibi. Ibraham, born in Jerusalem, who has an interesting life story that he will share with us.
